How It All Started
The Carrick Family
& The Three Wishes

When Joss, Steve and Charlie Carrick first visited The Three Wishes, they weren't just looking for a business — they were looking for somewhere worth believing in. The café's reputation for fresh, hearty food and its deep roots in the Sherborne community made the decision an easy one. In 2025, the family moved to Sherborne and took the reins, committed to continuing everything that has made The Three Wishes special.

"Looking for somewhere worth believing in."

The Three Wishes has been part of Sherborne's daily life since the early 1930s. Generations of locals have come through the doors for artisan cakes, honest hot food and a proper cup of coffee. That consistency — fresh ingredients, local produce, food made with care — is something we take seriously. It was here long before us, and we intend to keep it going.

We're proud to be more than just a café. The Three Wishes actively supports local initiatives across Sherborne, from community colour runs to the Chamber of Commerce's Summer Pageant Festival and Christmas Markets. This town has given a lot to us — giving something back feels like the least we can do.

What We Stand For
The Three Wishes Way
🌿
Locally Sourced
We work with Dorset producers and suppliers we trust — from Oxford's Bakery to Blackmore Vale dairy. Great food starts long before it reaches the kitchen, and we take that seriously.
🍳
Made With Care
Every dish is prepared fresh, every single day. No shortcuts, no ready-made sauces. Just honest cooking from good ingredients — the way food is supposed to be made.
🏡
A Place to Belong
We're a proper local. You'll see the same familiar faces behind the counter and at the tables, week after week. The Three Wishes has been part of Sherborne since the 1930s — and that sense of community matters deeply to us.
A Sherborne Original
The Sherborne
Stodger
Est. First World War · Exclusively Ours

Some things in Sherborne have a story worth telling. The Stodger is one of them.

First created around the time of the First World War, the Sherborne Stodger is a local original — made by Oxford's Bakery and supplied exclusively to The Three Wishes for decades. The arrangement has been honoured by both parties under a traditional gentleman's agreement ever since.

You won't find it anywhere else in Sherborne. Served toasted, with Longmans butter and jam, it's one of those things that customers come back for time and again.
